Innovation Cell / Institution Innovation Council

INNOVATION CELL

In order to foster the culture of innovation among faculty and the students, Innovation Cell was established in the college. The Cell aims to encourage, inspire and nurture young students by supporting them to work with new ideas and transform them into prototypes. The Innovation cell also strives to create a vibrant local innovation ecosystem in the campus and also provides a forum for scouting Ideas and Pre-incubation of Ideas. Institution Innovation Council (IIC) has been established in Sree Vidyanikethan Engineering College by MHRD Innovation Cell (MIC), Ministry of HRD, Govt. of India to foster the culture of Innovation among Higher Education Institutions.

Sree Vidyanikethan Engineering College IIC has been recognized as one of the Best Performing Institution from the South-Central Zone (SCRO) for the Year 2018-19 by MHRD’s Innovation Cell and has been felicitated by Hon’ble Minister of HRD Shri. Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank during “First Annual Innovation Festival” held at AICTE Head Quarters, New Delhi on 11-09-2019.

 

Objectives

  • To conduct various innovation and entrepreneurship-related activities to inculcate a culture of innovation driven entrepreneurship
  • To motivate, support and mentor students for identification and development of their innovative ideas.
  • Network with peers and national entrepreneurship development organizations.
  • Organize Hackathons, idea competition, mini challenges etc. with the involvement of industries.
  • To catalyze and promote the development of knowledge-based and innovation-driven enterprises.

 

ACHIEVEMENTS OF INNOVATION CELL

  • Sree Vidyanikethan Engineering College IIC has been recognized as Best Performing Institution from the South Central Zone (SCRO) for the Year 2018-19 by MHRD’s Innovation Cell and has been felicitated by Hon’ble Minister of HRD Shri.   • We were one among top 25 best performing Institutes among 952 IICs established across India.
  • Sanctioned the Host Institute (HI) status for Business Incubator (BI) supported by MSME and submitted 11 ideas for idea incubation under to IDEA NEW INDIA CHALLENGE
  • Secured First Rank in the Technology Entrepreneurship Program (TEP) BY Indian School of Business (ISB), Hyderabad in March 2020 for submitting a startup proposal on e-waste management.
  • One of our team has been shortlisted for SIH-2020 Grand Finale by MHRD for proposing a solution to a problem stated by Ministry of Women and Child Development.
  • Mr. Y Vamsi Krishna, Innovation cell student coordinator was Selected as Developers student club lead from Sree Vidyanikethan engineering college and was also sponsored by Google India to attend DSC2019 summit held at GOA.
  • Mr. Y Vamsi Krishna, completed 2 years as Microsoft Student partner and got certified from Microsoft. He served as IEEE Day & IEEE PES DAY Ambassador for the academic year 2019 and got Selected as IEEE Student Branch Chair for Sree Vidyanikethan engineering college.
  • Two projects based on AR/VR technology were short listed for finals in “Cognizant Best Students Project Award”-2020.
  • Published a Book Chapter: P. Bhanu Prasad, N. Padmaja, B. Satish Kumar and A. Aravind (2020), “Industry 4.0: Augmented and Virtual Reality in Education” , Bharathiar University, Chennai.
  • 218 student ideas got qualified of 731 idea submissions for i2E Smart Idea Pinch and Win Contest by APSSDC in 2019.

AICTE - Idea Lab

Sree Vidyanikethan Engineering College (Autonomous) has been selected for establishing AICTE- IDEA (Idea Development, Evaluation & Application) Lab on the campus with a funding of Rs 1.13 Crores from AICTE, Host institute and Industry on 12th June, 2021. AICTE selected only 49 institutions across the country to establish AICTE- IDEA lab on their Campus.

As a common facility on the campus, IDEA lab is to encourage students for application of Science and Technology and Engineering towards enhanced hands-on experience, learning by doing and product visualization. The IDEA lab will make Engineering students more imaginative and creative besides getting basic training in 21st century skills like critical thinking, problems solving, design thinking, collaboration, communication, lifelong learning etc.,

The lab shall ideally remain open 24X7, shall equip all the required facilities, tools and consumables to support translation of idea into prototype development or development of a solution for a problem. As a part of activities envisaged, Sree Vidyanikethan Engineering College will hold FDPs, workshops, training and ideation sessions, boot-camps, competitions, Internships with industry, Professional skilling programs, awareness workshops for industry etc. and shall participate in similar activities at national and international level.

The IDEA lab is established with funding from AICTE, Institute and Industry and will be managed by Dr. B.M. Sathish, Principal as Chief Mentor (CM), Dr. N. Padmaja, Professor, Dept., of ECE as Faculty Coordinator (FC) and Dr. A.K. Damodaram, Professor, Dept., of ME as Faculty Co-coordinator (FCC) and selected students from 3rd and 4th year as Student Ambassadors.
