About Department

Genesis and Growth:

Today’s digitally equipped world has a major part of its work in the Information Technology arena, offering more scope for innovative research that best influences the human existence for good. The Department of Information Technology was established in the year 1997 offering B.Tech. in IT with a modest intake of 30. The intake of students has been increased from 30 to 60 during the year 1998-1999 and further increased to 120 in 2000-2001. Furthermore, the program B.Tech. IT was accredited by NBA in 2007 and reaccredited in 2013, 2017 and 2020. The department is also offering B.Tech. Computer Science and Design and B.Tech. Computer Science and Engineering (IoT) from the AY 2021-2022 with an intake of 60 in each of these programs.

Department Philosophy

The Department of Information Technology believes in that, the students of the program have to make quantitative predictions and effects of the software products and solutions they deliver. It is understood here as a well thought-out mix of social cause with scientific and technological interventions. Hence, it is our humble endeavor to train students holistically in Information Technologies and their developments.

The Department strives to impart conceptual and technical skills in students through a scientific teaching methodology based on lectures, case studies, seminars, group discussions, project works, assignments, quizzes, webinars and spoken tutorial projects.

Further, the systematic approach to problem solving is emphasized in the classrooms and laboratories as well as through the course projects and additional computer training beyond the academic curriculum. For real time experience, the laboratory exercises are designed according to the latest software and tools of the industry.

To prepare the students for the industry ready and enhance the students’ knowledge and skills in advanced technological areas, Workshops, Expert Lectures, Skill Development and Personality Development programmes are being conducted by the Department

The Department is headed by Dr. K. Ramani, who has more than two decades of teaching experience and is supported by well qualified and experienced faculty.

The Department offers undergraduate program in Information Technology and Post graduate program in Software Engineering to produce high quality information technologists and software engineers by disseminating knowledge through contemporary curriculum, competent faculty and adopting effective teaching-learning methodologies.

UG: B. Tech (Information Technology)

The program curriculum is composed with industry demand driven courses: Python for Data Science, Cloud Computing, Blockchain Technologies, Web Development using Angular and Bootstrap, Cyber Security, Full Stack Development, Artificial Intelligence, Data Analytics, Game Development etc.

UG: B.Tech. Computer Science and Design

The growing application of digital technology and usage of Internet in IT and other sectors is demanding incorporation of good computing approaches, design, tools, and technologies. The program aims to impart interdisciplinary skill-set in Programming, Data Analytics, Web Design, Animation, Virtual Reality, Augmented Reality, Mobile Application Development, Multimedia, Robotics, Game Development, User Experience and Interface Design etc.

UG: B.Tech. Computer Science and Engineering (Internet of Things):

The explosive growth of Internet of Things resulted in more devices connected to the Internet than there are people in the world. Internet of Things (IoT) has its applications in process industries, smart manufacturing, smart homes, smart cities, connected cars, traffic management, weather monitoring, smart grids, fleet tracking, healthcare, aquaculture, wearable electronics, etc. The program is an interdisciplinary, which includes Computer science Core and advanced courses and the implementation of diverse technologies such as Software programming, Embedded Systems, Wireless sensor networks, Communication protocols, Cloud computing, Cyber Security, Web Programming, Big data analytics, etc.

About Association

The Technical Association of Information Technology (TAIT) is a Technical Association of the Department of Information Technology with 360 Student members of IT.

TAIT was started in the year 2006 from there onwards under TAIT Association we are conducting various Co-curricular & Extra-curricular events to develop all sorts of skills in students and mould them into perfect professionals.
